POSTER

MANDATE

To create a poster for the end-of-the-year Dawson College Graphic Design Vernissage for the 2023 Graduates. The poster needs to be something that screams graphic design, is eye-catching and can be transformed into an event with other applications.

Poster adapted to fit on a black tote bag. The person who is carrying the bag has their black pants and silver and purple running shoes shown. The floor is a white brick.

APPROACH

I wanted to create something that captures both the reason for the event as well as, represented our experience throughout the program.

The project began with a lot of brainstorming and sketching trying to find something that would connect the two ends of the goal of the poster. As I was sketching I was very inclined by the idea of using something recognizable like a symbol. During my brainstorming process, I wrote the word "share" down; this ultimately led me to the well-known share symbol. Funny enough, this turned into the whole concept of the poster.

Poster show turned in 3 different directions to show how it can be used as way finding. Showing left right and down.

OUTCOME

The project was very exciting because there was a lot of personal feeling of being very hands-on with the work. As well, for this project, it was important to step away from the computer to be able to create a very connected design. This way of looking at a project was interesting to me and has helped me in the ways I have explored other projects.
